Singer-songwriter Rumer has won the coveted breakthrough award at this year's Mojo Honours.
The 32-year-old, who was nominated for three awards, beat the likes of The Vaccines and Miles Kane to the prize.But she lost out to Arctic Monkeys in the best album award category, who won for their fourth studio album, Suck It And See.
Former Beatles member Ringo Starr was also honoured with an icon award at the London ceremony.
"It has been a remarkable 12 months for Rumer," said Mojo magazine's editor-in-chief Phil Alexander.
"She was nominated in three reader-voted categories at this year's Mojo Honours List which underlines the impact she's has among real music fans."
'Sheer fragility'
John Grant, who was also nominated for three prizes, walked away with best live act, beating Seasick Steve, The Jim Jones Revue, Foals and Arcade Fire.
Grinderman's Heathen Child fought off competition from tracks including Rumer's Slow and Aloe Blacc's I Need A Dollar to scoop song of the year.
A number of other music stars were present at the London ceremony, including Donovan, who took the maverick award and Gary Numan, who picked up the inspiration award.
John Lydon collected Public Image Ltd's award for outstanding contribution to music, and the classic songwriter award was presented to Squeeze.
The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson also flew in from the US to be inducted into Mojo's Hall of Fame.
"As one of the principle architects of the Beach Boys sound, Brian sold us visions of America that were infused with romanticism, hope and in places, sheer fragility. Genius is the only word for it," Mr Alexander said
